Welcome to the Talented Students Office of the School of Chemical Engineering

The mission of the Talented Students Office at the Faculty of Chemical, Petroleum, and Gas Engineering is to identify exceptional students within the faculty and provide support to them. One of the forms of support is enabling their admission to master’s and doctoral programs without the need for an entrance exam. This allows exceptional students in each cycle to dedicate their time to better and deeper study of courses and pursue their research projects more seriously, without having to allocate several months of their time to prepare for the entrance exam.

Additionally, in each cycle, five outstanding students from the undergraduate program of the Faculty of Chemical, Petroleum, and Gas Engineering are selected and introduced to participate in the national scientific student Olympiad. If successful in this Olympiad, they will benefit from its advantages, credits, and awards.

Moreover, outstanding students from other universities in the country can have the opportunity to study at one of the top engineering faculties in the country by participating in the call for admission without an entrance exam for talented students in the master’s and doctoral programs.

Based on the regulations of the Talent Guidance Council of the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology, for the implementation of policies to guide and support top students, undergraduate students from the Faculty of Chemical, Petroleum, and Gas Engineering at the University of Science and Technology of Iran who are applying for admission to the Master’s degree program can directly enter the postgraduate level without an entrance exam if they have completed a minimum of 110 credits after 6 academic semesters, their overall grade point average is among the top 15% of students in their field and intake, and they complete their studies within a maximum of eight academic semesters. Additionally, outstanding undergraduate students from other universities in the country can benefit from the opportunity to study at one of the top chemical engineering faculties in the country by participating in the call for admission without an exam for talented students at the Faculty of Chemical, Petroleum, and Gas Engineering at the University of Science and Technology of Iran.

It should be noted that admission without an exam for talented students in the Master’s degree program is immediately after graduation from the Bachelor’s degree and is only possible once.

Based on the regulations of the Talent Guidance Council of the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology, in order to implement policies for guiding and supporting top students, Master’s degree students from the Faculty of Chemical, Petroleum, and Gas Engineering at the University of Science and Technology of Iran, who have been graduated for more than 2 years and have an overall average of above 16 and 17 in their bachelor’s and master’s courses respectively, can apply for direct admission to the doctoral program without taking the entrance exam. The total score of these applicants is calculated based on educational, research, interview, and English language exam scores, and the top candidates in the doctoral program at the Faculty of Chemical, Petroleum, and Gas Engineering at the University of Science and Technology of Iran are accepted. Additionally, outstanding Master’s degree students from other universities in the country can benefit from the opportunity to study at one of the top chemical engineering faculties in the country by participating in the call for admission to the doctoral program without an exam for talented students at the Faculty of Chemical, Petroleum, and Gas Engineering at the University of Science and Technology of Iran.

The national scientific student Olympiad is held in two forms, centralized and decentralized, for students who have completed a minimum of 70 academic credits and are undergraduate students at the time of the undergraduate exam. The selected students in the national scientific student Olympiad are annually encouraged and awarded prizes by the Olympiad Supreme Council, which is a subsidiary of the National Assessment Organization.

The centralized exam is conducted through participation in the master’s entrance exam, and by indicating the interest in participating in the national scientific student Olympiad at the end of the relevant application form. After the announcement of the results by the National Assessment Organization, the top 15 students with the highest scientific score in the master’s exam are introduced, and then the candidates advance to the second stage of the national scientific student Olympiad, which is in the form of essay-type exams.

The decentralized national scientific student Olympiad is held in 10 regions of the country and is specifically for outstanding students from universities. The exam centers are selected from the prestigious universities in these regions, and the selected students in this stage must participate in the final stage of the national scientific student Olympiad. Each year, 5 outstanding students from the undergraduate program of the Faculty of Chemical, Petroleum, and Gas Engineering at the University of Science and Technology of Iran are selected to participate in the national scientific student Olympiad. The selection process is based on conducting an internal Olympiad exam and calculating the average of the courses covered in the Olympiad, including dynamics, vibrations, machine dynamics, control, mechanism design, material resistance 1 and 2, component design 1 and 2, material science, manufacturing methods, thermodynamics 1 and 2, fluid mechanics 1 and 2, and heat transfer 1.
